MTQI 2007 Update: Hometown candidate wins Best in Smile

Hometown girl and crowd favorite Miss China Ma Wei wins the Best Smile Award of Miss Tourism Queen International 2007 during a special fashion show in Chongqing, China Tuesday, July 17.

The award does not have bearing on the final scores of the candidates, but it has always been a part of the special awards for the said competition, recognizing the candidate with the most beautiful smile. China is the third Asian country to win the same award in the four-year span of Miss Tourism Queen International. Asian countries Philippines and Thailand won Best Smile in 2005 and 2006 respectively, while Tunisia from Africa is the only non-Asian country to win the award.
Best Smile is just one of a bunch of Special Awards to be given out this year. Other special awards include Miss Bikini, Best in Evening Gown, Best National Costume, Miss Photogenic, Miss Elegant, Miss Charm, Best in Qipao, Miss Disco, Miss Friendship, Miss Personailty, The Press Favorite and Miss Charity.
Miss Internet Popularity is officially launched this year via an online voting at the official website where the winner gets an automatic slot in the finals. As of the moment, Miss Finland Ulla-Maija Johanna Mattsson is the most popular, followed by Miss Vietnam Trieu Tran Thu Trang, next is Miss America Eve Maciel, then Miss Greece Alkistis Papageorgiou, Miss India Mahima Chaudhary , Miss Bahamas Alexandra Natasha Deal, Miss Serbia Marija Spalevic follows then Miss Ukraine Marina Timoshenko, Miss Germany Nadine Stephanie Domroese
and Miss Curacao Shadée Braun . The least popular contestants for now are Miss Kenya Catherine Emily Muturi and Miss Sudan Angelina Nyiajima Jial.
