Marian's show, no match for Angel's past series

The Philippine version of Marimar, which stars Marian Rivera, had its successful pilot last Monday, August 13, with an initial Mega Manila ratings of 36.6%, the highest-rated TV program for the day.
GMA 7, the network that airs Marimar, has indeed found a new gem by the person of beautiful Marian Rivera, after losing Angel Locsin, who was GMA's most important female star in the past four years.
Marimar is Marian's very first key starring role and it's indeed an achievement for her to gain a 30+ ratings for the said show. I don't believe the cast other than Marian is to be credited for the show's initial success because let's admit it, they are not anymore considered bankable stars in Philippine showbiz, except for Michael V and the director, Bb. Joyce Bernal.
Marian Rivera is supported by Dingdong Dantes, Katrina Halili, Manilyn Reynes, Buboy Garovillo, Caridad Sanchez, Leo Martinez, Jestoni Alarcon, Mike Tan, Nadine Samonte, Marky Lopez, Bing Loyzaga, Bianca King and Richard Gomez with Michael V. as Fulgoso's voice and Rufa Mae Quinto for the voice of Fifi.
However, comparing the pilot performance of Marian's show to the other programs in GMA Telebabad, especially to the pilot ratings of Angel Locsin's Darna and Asian Treasures, Marimar fared not so high. It was an acceptable rating, but not a phenomenal one.
Marimar's pilot rating ranks only 7th among the pilot ratings of programs in the GMA Telebabad since Mulawin in 2004.

As for Angel Locsin, she is set to appear in two upcoming shows on ABS-CBN. She will star opposite Piolo Pascual in Taong Lobo and another one, with unidentified cast, in the remake of Kadenang Bulaklak.
