Asian Idol will be far different from other singing competitions in Asia or in the world because it will gather all the winners of national 'Idol' competitions in Asian countries like India, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, and have them compete to one another.
The competition starts this December 07, 2007 and ends on the finals night, December 16, 2007.
Who will be the first Asian Idol ever?
Here are the six (6) contenders:
Mau Marcelo, Philippine Idol Season 1 Winner
Hady Mirza, Singapore Idol Season 2 Winner
Mike Mohede, Indonesian Idol Season 2 Winner
Abhijeet Sawant, Indian Idol Season 1 Winner
Jaclyn Victor, Malaysian Idol Season 1 Winner
Phuong Vy, Vietnam Idol Season 1 Winner
The judges include Siu Black of Vietnam, Indra Lesmana of Indonesia, Ken Lim from Singapore, Anu Malik of India, Paul Moss of Malaysia and the Asia's Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales of the Philippines.
Guest performers will be American Idol Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks, Australian Idol Season 1 winner Guy Sebastian, Philippines' Rivermaya and many more.
Even if Philippines' ABC 5 lost the franchise of Philippine Idol to GMA 7, it was able to get the deal for Asian Idol and will air the local telecast of the competition next month.
In other countries, Asian Idol will be aired on RCTI in Indonesia, 8TV in Malaysia, HTV9 in Vietnam, MediaCorp TV Channel 5 in Singapore and Sony TV in India.
