Todd Herzog, an openly gay flight attendant and a Mormon from Utah, was voted as the sole survivor in the hit American reality series Survivor: China last Sunday, December 16, 2007.Todd is only 22 years old and still considered as the youngest winner of Survivor during the last 15 seasons. He also becomes the 2nd gay to win the competition. The winner, Richard Hatch, during the first season (Survivor: Borneo) is also a self-confessed gay.
It can be recalled though that early this month, Todd stirred controversy after he was featured as a cover boy of Instinct Magazine, a gay magazine in the US, for its last issue this year. He is tagged there as "million-dollar man" creating a speculation that the magazine knew beforehand that Todd was going to win.
He indeed won beating waitress Courtney Yates (1st Runner Up) and beauty queen Amanda Kimmel (2nd Runner Up), who competed at Miss Earth 2006 in Manila and placed in the Top 8.
