Aga-Anne starrer, no match to Iron Man's box office prowess

Even if Star Cinema keeps bragging about the box-office success of 'When Love Begins', it could not deny that the said movie starring Aga Muhlach and Anne Curtis fell short of expectations and was far from the numbers pulled in by 'A Love Story' and 'One More Chance', the Philippines' highest grossing films in 2007.
According to Box Office Mojo's update as of May 4, 2008, When Love Begins hauled in a gross revenue of $960,492 or 40.8 million pesos since it opened last April 30.
Yes, it is already a box-office hit and is performing better than the two Star Cinema movies that opened this 2008 (My Big Love & SupahPapalicious), but it can also be considered a box-office failure, especially that it's an Aga Muhlach movie.
Aga Muhlach's previous movie A Love Story had an opening weekend sales of $1,448,162 or 68 million pesos, while One More Chance, which gave Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz box-office titles, had $1,581,163 or 69 million pesos.
Probably, the latest Star Cinema movie is suffering from the ultramagnetic pull of Hollywood's Iron Man, which has already raked in an amazing $1,745,112 or 74 million pesos during its first 5 days run in the Philippines.
Here's Box Office Mojo's tally from April 30 to May 04, 2008:
1 Iron Man $1,745,112
2 When Love Begins... $960,492
3 Ploning $144,310
4 The Forbidden Kingdom $124,320
5 Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour $33,857
6 Manay po 2: Overload $28,767
7 Shutter $13,733
8 Superhero Movie $10,646
9 Street Kings $6,280
10 Fool's Gold $5,248
