The music video of Britney Spears' hit song Piece Of Me won three awards in the MTV Video Music Awards 2008 held Sunday evening, September 07, 2008 at the Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles, California.
Piece of Me won 3 awards out of its 3 nominations: Video of the Year, Best Pop Video and Best Female Video.
The music video won over other worthy Best Female Video contenders such as Touch My Body by Mariah Carey, I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry, No Air by Jordin Sparks and Take a Bow by Rihanna.
In the Best Pop Video category, which was presented by equally controversial Paris Hilton, Britney edged out Danity Kane's Damaged, Burnin' Up by the Jonas Brothers, Nine in the Afternoon by Panic at the Disco and Ready, Set, Go! by Tokio Hotel, who later won as Best New Artist.
As for Video of the Year award, Piece of Me beat Chris Brown's Forever, Jonas Brothers' Burnin' Up, Pussycat Dolls' When I Grow Up and The Ting Tings' Shut Up and Let Me Go.
The song Piece of Me is the one that cites Philippines twice and has been debated or discussed upon by people of all races.
It is Britney's first time ever to win in the MTV Video Music Awards after being nominated 16 times in the past.
According to some observers, Britney's victory was just a consolation to her after her widely-bashed comeback performance at the VMA last year.
