Janina San Miguel, the controversial Binibining Pilipinas-World 2008 titleholder, has resigned her crown and loses the chance to represent the Philippines in the 2008 Miss World beauty pageant on December 13, 2008 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to the statement released by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), Janina has been terribly affected by the sudden death of her grandfather causing her to give up her precious crown.
The statement says, “The untimely demise of her grandfather, among other personal reasons, has caused her undue stress, thus hindering her from fulfilling her duties for the said title."
“BPCI wishes to express its gratitude to Ms. San Miguel for this act of graciousness and concern for the country. They also wish her well in her future endeavors."
Will this one merit as a good news or a bad news?
If you were ones of those who criticized Janina San Miguel during the Binibining Pilipinas 2008 pageant back in March for her "not so good" response during the Question and Answer portion, it's some kind of a good news for you.
If you already forgot it, she was the asked with the question "What role did your family play with you as candidate to Binibining Pilipinas?", then she answered: "Well, my family's role for me is so important...because...there was, no, they're, they was the one...who's...very...hahaha! Oh I'm so sorry! My family, my family, Oh My God!..I'm so sorry! I told you that I'm so confident. Eto, ahmm..wait, hahaha! Ahmm...Sorry guys because this was really my first pageant ever because I'm only 17 years old...and haha..I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the Top 10. Ahm..so..but I said...that...my family is the most important persons in my life. Thank you."
Janina's resignation is also a great news for the fans of Danielle Kirsten Castaño because she will take over the Miss Philippines World crown.
"In accordance with BPCI rules and regulations, 1st Runner-Up Danielle Castaño will replace Ms. San Miguel as the official Philippine representative to the Ms. World 2008 pageant," BPCI said.
During the Bb. Pilipinas pageant, Castano was one of the big favorites to win a title.
For Janina's fans, it's definitely not a good news especially that the Miss World 2008 pageant is just barely two months away and BPCI has already invested for her trainings and improvement.
