A MYKIRU'S EXCLUSIVEMister Philippines Ryan Roberts will be leaving to Taiwan on Friday, November 14, 2008, for the Mister International 2008 pageant.
Roberts will participate in the pageant for two weeks, and will be back in the country on the 26th, hopefully with the prestigious title.
In an interview (via email) with Mister Philippines organizer Mike Lim, Ryan is well-prepared for the pageant.
"It was Ryan’s first time to ramp on stage when he competed in Mister International Philippines. With this is mind, I made it a point that Ryan was included in various modeling stints for him to develop his self confidence and stage presence. Ever since Mister International Philippines, Ryan has been spotted on the Cosmopolitan Hunk Bash stage and the runway of the 25th Anniversary Gala Show of Frederick Peralta during the recent Fashion Week at the SMX. Apart from these modeling stints, Ryan also went thru a weekly Fashion Week ramp work shop spearheaded by Inno Sotto," Lim said.
For his skin maintenance, Dr. Ramon Briones of Skin Central did many procedures to Roberts from weekly facials to diamond peels and also, Dr. Joni Dizon did surgical removal of some of Roberts' moles on his faces.
He also had constant workout at the Gold’s Gym.
Mike Lim also provided Roberts with supplements (fat burners, whey protein, amino acids) from Jeff Chua of JEFFCO and personally trained him to improve his communication skills.
Here are some parts of my e-mail interview with Mr. Lim:
What's the best thing about being Mister Philippines International?
I try very hard to make him part of major fashion shows and shoots for him to be very exposed. He just did a shoot for Metro Men and it will come out next month. Bascically, his winning made him get jobs easier.
Are you gonna accompany him to Taiwan? Who will travel with him?
Nope, he will be traveling alone. Leaving on November 14 and he will be back on Novermber 26.
How do you feel he will fare among the other contestants?.
Compared to most of the contestants, specially the ones from the Latin countries, their bodies are buffed and bulky but for Ryan, I have decided that he keeps his body leaned and toned (more like a model’s body). I just hope this works for him.
What are Ryan's plans after the competition?
After the competition, Ryan hopes to continue his modeling career in the Philippines. He also plans to venture in the construction business here in the Philippines.
The Mister International 2008 pageant will be participated in by over 30 countries, with the finals night happening on November 24, 2008.
Outgoing titleholder Alan Martini from Brazil will crown his successor.
