Efren Peñaflorida named CNN Hero of the Year (2009)

Kariton (pushcart) teacher Efren Peñaflorida has been officially named "CNN Hero of the Year" during the 3rd Annual "CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute" held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, USA last night, November 21, 2009.
As you can see in the CNN photo above, Hollywood actress Eva Mendes presented the award to him. That's already a big prize!
Peñaflorida won over 9 other CNN heroes chosen from different countries such as Brad Blauser (USA), Roy Foster (USA), Doc Hendley (USA), Andrea Ivory (USA), Betty Makoni (Zimbabwe), Jorge Munoz (USA), Budi Soehardi (Indonesia), Derrick Tabb (USA) and Jordan Thomas (USA).
Performers during the event were Carrie Underwood, Maxwell and Leona Lewis.
Congrats Efren and to the whole Philippines!
