'Ang Darling Kong Aswang' continues to lead MMFF '09 boxoffice

After four days, Vic Sotto starrer "Ang Darling Kong Aswang" is still leading in the boxoffice rankings for the official entries of MMFF 2009.
As of December 28, 2009, the movie now has a cumulative gross earnings of 44.625 million pesos.
But the APT Entertainment/Octo Arts Films produced movie should not celebrate early victory for this one, because the current 2nd to 4th placers in the ranking could possibly grab the top spot at any moment.
During Day 1, "Aswang" was in 2nd place, then went to #1 on Day 2 but dropped to #3 in both Day 3 and 4. But because of the large number it hauled in the first two days, the movie is still leading when all of the earnings from Day 1 to 4 are totaled.
In close second as of Monday was GMA Films/Imus Productions co-prod "Ang Panday" which has just over one million peso difference from "Aswang". Its day-by-day ranking in the last four days: #1 on Day 1, #3 on Day 2, #2 on Day 3 and #4 on Day 4.
Still on third spot is "Shake, Rattle & Roll XI" under Regal Films. It ranked #3 on first day, then #2 on the 2nd day, down to #4 on Day 3 but recovered to #2 on Day 4.
The biggest mover as of this moment is the Star Cinema entry "I Love You Goodbye". The total gross for this PG-13 movie is over 38 million pesos, which is still lower than the three above-mentioned G-rated movies. But this movie is showing strongly during Day 3 and Day 4. It only ranked during the first two days, but it is earning the highest during the 3rd and 4th days.
If the trend continues, we shall see "ILYG" and SRR11" on the first two slots while "Aswang" and "Panday" occupy the 3rd and 4th slots when the MMFF 2009 ends on January 7, 2010.
As for the other three entries, "Mano Po 6" and "Nobody, Noboy But Juan" are switching places while "Wapakman" is still a low-earner: P750,000 on Day 1, P650,000 on Day 2, P317,000 on Day 3 and P194,000 on Day 4.
