Danica Flores Magpantay from the Philippines wins Ford Supermodel of the World 2011

Danica Flores Magpantay, daughter of renowned make-up artist Lala Artist, represented the Philippines in the Ford Models - Supermodel of the World 2011 competition.
And Danica won, becoming the first ever Filipina to win the contest.
It was held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, in New York City, participated in by around 70 supermodels from different countries.

Danica is only 17 years old whose mom Lala Flores was also a Philippine representative during the Supermodel of the World contest held in 1990.

Danica is only the 2nd Asian to win as Ford Models' Supermodel of the World. The first Asian winner was Korea's Kang Seung-Hyun in 2008.
The contest has been staged for 29 years already and Canada has the most number of wins (3) followed by Norway, Spain, Australia, Germany and Brazil with 2 each.
Prior to Danica's victory, Philippines' highest placements in Ford Supermodel in the World competition were in 1986 when Melanie Marquez was 1st Runner Up, in 2006 with Charo Ronquillo as 2nd Runner Up and just last year, a 1st Runner Up finish by Chat Almarvez.
