Earth Hour 2011 is happening tonight, March 26, at 8:30 PM.
Billions of people from 4,616 cities in 128 countries, including the Philippines, will take part in this special celebration by switching off their lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 PM.
And when the lights turn one, everyone is encouraged to make a commitment on how to make this planet a better place to live in and do actions which will benefit our future.
The Earth Hour started in Australia in 2007 and the Philippines has joined the celebration starting in 2008.
In 2009, an estimated 10 million Filipinos participated in turning off their lights for 60 minutes, then the figure increased by 50% in 2010.
According to World Wide Nature (WWF) Philippines who spearheads Earth Hour in the country, the Philippines has topped the global Earth Hour participation level in the past 2 years.
Let's all hope that more Filipinos will join the celebration this 2011.
So I'm encouraging everyone to participate. Can we all do it tonight, pls?
