Satoshi Tajiri, the 45-year-old Japanese creator of Pokemon, reportedly died in Japan earthquake and tsunami on Friday, but it turned out to be just another death rumor.
The Twitter world this morning was shocked to read a tweet saying that Pokemon creator Satoshi Tajiri was among those who died in Japan earthquake and tsunami yesterday.
It says, "The creator of Pokemon died today in the #tsunami, #Japan. RIP: Satoshi Tajiri. #prayforjapan", which was posted by a Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato fan named xCyrusAndLovato, who speaks both English and Spanish.
The tweet was later re-tweeted more than a thousand times and caused "Satoshi Tajiri" to be one of the Top 10 Trending Topics in the said social networking and micro-blogging site.
However, no news reports could support xCyrusAndLovato's claim that Tajiri has died and as a result, he/she received lots of hate tweets from other Twitter users.
xCyrusAndLovato later explained that he/she just copied a tweet from someone else and posted it on his Twitter page.
Two hours before that tweet, Pokemon owner Nintendo (via @NintendoAmerica) posted on Twitter that no one from Nintendo based in Tokyo, Japan died in the earthquake. "Thanks for your concern! During the earthquake no one at Nintendo in Japan was injured and there was no apparent structural damage."
