Richard Yap, who plays Papa Chen on ABS-CBN's 'My Binondo Girl', can now claim it, that he's the newest
Kapamilya Heartthrob and 'Papa ng Bayan'
Who would have thought that 44-year-old showbiz newbie Richard Yap, very much married with 2 kids, can still make it and easily achieve 'hearththrob' status in a network already crowded with good-looking, talented young men?
Thanks to his cute Chinito looks and convincing 'Papa Chen' role in
"My Binondo Girl" that he consistently charms primetime viewers with ease.
His scenes with Ms. Ai-Ai delas Alas, who plays Zeny in the show, effortlessly bring 'kilig' to the viewers, in the same level with the
scenes of Jade and Andy, played by Kim Chiu and Xian Lim.
Have you seen Papa Chen and Zeny's beach scene last night? Wow! That was their most 'kilig' moment in the show.
Though it was a bit disappointing that Papa Chen didn't take his shirt off as Mama Zeny gamely showed bod in a swimsuit, he still looked hot with his muscular bod, even with his clothes on.
Or maybe Papa Chen's shirtless photo above (courtesy of @MyBinondoGirl1 on Twitter) could make up for it.
Not surprising though if Papa Chen made it on top (on 1st spot) of Twitter's trending topics in the Philippines last night.
Truly, Richard Yap, has proven that it's never too late and he doesn't need an impressive acting resume to become famous and earn the fancy of the televiewers. Just pure charm would do.
Before landing on Papa Chen role, Richard Yap, who's a pure Chinese by the way, was a marketing manager and also a commercial model, appearing in some of Chowking's TV commercials.
What's next for him after 'My Binondo Girl', which will already air
its finale on January 20? (Hope his ailing character won't die there.)
On Twitter (@Iamrichardyap), he said that if there are offers, he's willing to pursue
his showbiz career and ready for anything that will come his way.
I'm sure ABS-CBN is already cooking up a follow-up project for him.
