Star Cinema's "Unofficially Yours" had a very strong box-office performance when it opened in cinemas, February 15, a day after the Valentine's Day.
Fans of John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin came out in full force yesterday to make sure that "Unofficially Yours" will have a great box-office opening.
It was indeed a box-office winner, and even breaking box-office records.
According to Star Cinema's ad prom manager Roxy Liquigan, 'Unofficially Yours' earned P18.5-million in the box-office on its opening day.
The figure becomes the highest opening gross for a Valentine or post-Valentine local film, a record previously held by two films which also starred John Lloyd Cruz and also had Cathy Garcia-Molina as director.
'You Changed My Life' in 2009 and 'Miss You Like Crazy' in 2010 both had P18M opening gross. 'You Changed My Life' even went on to become the highest-grossing Philippine movie of all time until 'Praybeyt Benjamin' and 'No Other Woman' broke the records late 2011.
Shall we expect 'Unofficially Yours' to break all-time box-office records?
SM Cinemas announced on Twitter that they'll be opening 2 cinemas for 'Unofficially Yours' starting Thursday in almost all of its branches nationwide.
