Music icon Whitney Houston was found dead inside her hotel room in Beverly Hills, California, USA.
When I woke up this morning, I saw "R.I.P Whitney Houston" on top of Twitter trending topics.
I initially thought it means the new R.I.P. meaning "Really Inspiring Person" just like the trending topics RIP Britney, RIP Beyonce, RIP Bieber and more.
But when I double-checked, and there I learned that the R.I.P. is Rest In Peace, and that Whitney has indeed died.
According to a report from TMZ, Whitney Houston was found dead in her room at Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 11 (Sunday morning, Feb. 12, Manila time).
Whitney's publicist has already confirmed that the singer has died, but the cause of death is still unknown as of this moment.
Whitney Houston was 48. (August 9, 1963 - February 11, 2012)
Whitney Houston was an iconic music superstar, considered as among the greatest artists in music history and influenced many divas in the world (including our very own Lani Misalucha, Regine Velasquez and even Charice).
She had numerous chart-topping hits such as "I Will Always Love You", "One Moment In Time", "Greatest Love Of All, "All At Once", "Saving All My Love For You", "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", "Didn't We Almost Have It All", "Where Do Broken Hearts Go", "I Have Nothing", "Run To You", "I'm Every Woman", "All The Man That I Need", "I Know Him So Well", "Try It On My Own" and my all-time favorite "When You Believe" (with Mariah Carey).
Too many to mention actually, and I bet you know all those classic songs that I mentioned above. And I'm also sure some of them have been a songlist favorite during your "karaoke" sessions.
Her songs, which were mostly 80's and 90's hits, have continued to be most requested and top favorite songs even up to this time.
Whitney also tried the movies, starred with Kevin Costner in "The Bodyguard" which was a box-office hit in 1992, earning almost half-a-billion dollars.
She made a total of 4 films, one of which ("Sparkle") is yet to be released, this August 2012.
She was also supposed to make an appearance on the 54th Grammy Awards happening today, Feb. 12.
Reports revealed that the 2012 Grammys has changed its program following Whitney Houston's death and will pay tribute to her.
We will always love you Whitney!
