American Idol 2012's Top 5 finalists each took on a song from the 60's and another song by a British artist on the show's Performance Night Wednesday, May 2, 2012.
Finalist Hollie Cavanagh was the first to perform a song from the 1960's with Ike and Tina Turner's "River Deep, Mountain High" followed by crowd favorite Phillip Phillips' performance of "The Letter" by The Box Tops, then Skylar Laine came next with "Fortunate Son" by the Creedence Clearwater Revival or CCR.
Jessica Sanchez tackled "Proud Mary" also by Ike and Tina Turner, and finally, Joshua Ledet sang The Temptations' "Ain't Too Proud to Beg".

(If you're from the US, here's the number to call for Jessica Sanchez if you're voting for her: dial and call 1-866-436-5704 or 1-866-436-5709 or for AT&T customers, text VOTE and send it to 5704. Online voting can also be done via www.americanidol.com/vote.)
After all the Top 5 finalists performed, the 3 judges considered the performances of Hollie, Skylar and Joshua as the best ones for this round. (Argghhh. Joshua is obviously a consistent favorite by the judges.)
And for their 2nd performance, the American Idol Top 5 finalists showed every effort to impress judges with British pop songs.
Hollie sang first again with Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love". (I think I loved it!) (video courtesy of FOX)
Then next off was Phillip singing "Time of the Season" by The Zombies, followed by Skylar Laine singing the emotionally demanding song "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" by Dusty Springfield.
Jessica Sanchez sang "You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker and then Joshua Ledet performed "To Love Somebody" by The Bee Gees.
