Manny Pacquiao's anti-gay remarks might affect Jessica Sanchez's chances in American Idol 2012?

Manny Pacquiao's stand on same sex marriage created a stir online, and some fans of Jessica Sanchez, who's half-Filipina, are worried that it might affect their idol's chances in winning on American Idol 2012.
Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, who's in the US now to train for his June 9 fight vs Timothy Bradley, made headlines just recently after he made a stand on the issue of gay marriage.
Following US President Barack Obama's announcement that he supports gay marriage, Manny Pacquiao was asked to comment about it in an interview by the National Conservative Examiner last Friday, a night after Jessica Sanchez advanced to the Top 3 of American Idol 2012 (Why was he asked to comment about it btw?).
Pacquiao said, "God's words first...obey God's law first before considering the law of man. God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other".
It already didn't sound good to the LGBT community, but what sounded worse is that, Pacquiao allegedly quoted in the interview this Bible passage (from Leviticus 20:13): "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death, their blood will be on their own heads."
Pacquiao was heavily criticized for those anti-gay remarks, specifically for his alleged statement about gays being put to death, when in fact, he never said that.
In an interview with Dyan Castillejo aired over TV Patrol last night, Pacquiao denied he quoted a verse from the Book of Leviticus in the Bible and stressed that he hasn't read Leviticus yet.
The writer of the article already cleared Pacquiao and said in a newer article that Pacquiao never quoted a passage from Leviticus and it was he, the writer, who made the quote.
And now, some fans of Jessica Sanchez are worrying that Pacquiao's anti-gay remarks will have an impact on her votes on American Idol 2012.
Probably, they fear that some Americans, particularly the LGBT community and those pro-gay marriage, might take it personally and won't vote for Jessica who is well-known as half-Filipino, half-Mexican.
It's funny! I think they shouldn't worry. I'm pretty confident that the Fil-Ams won't allow Jessica to get voted off this week.
Jessica Sanchez is not Manny Pacquiao and she should be spared from the controversy.
How I wish Manny, instead of talking about gay marriage, he should have taken the opportunity in his interview to help campaigning for Jessica Sanchez so she could earn more votes on American Idol 2012.
Manny Pacquiao is planning to watch Jessica Sanchez live on the finale of American Idol 2012 if ever she makes it to the Final 2. I just hope Manny will really help Jessica win American Idol with his appearance (and hopefully, he won't get booed just because of his remarks on gay marriage). © www.mykiru.ph
