R.I.P. Dolphy
Dolphy has died today, July 10, 2012, 15 days before his 84th birthday on July 25.
News about Dolphy's death have circulated on Twitter at around 9PM today and it was confirmed first by his partner, actress Zsa Zsa Padilla, that Dolphy has died already this evening.
It was followed by an official statement released by Makati Medical Center where Dolphy was confined since June.
Here's Makati Med's statement about Dolphy's death, as shared on Twitter by ABS-CBN News:
"We would like to inform the public that Mr. Rodolfo "Dolphy" Quizon, passed away today, at 8:34PM due to multiple organ failure, secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and acute renal failure.
We join the entire Filipino Community in praying for the soul of Mr. Quizon and his dearly beloved family and friends.
To the Quizon Family, we extend our deepest condolences."
Rodolfo Vera Sr. in real life, Dolphy was dubbed as the one and only Comedy King, and was best known for his portrayal on TV as John Puruntong in "John En Marsha" and as Kevin Cosme in "Home Along Da Riles".
Dolphy starred in more than 200 films in 7 decades, the last two were the MMFF 2010 entries "Father Jejemon" and "Rosario".
