Sec. Jesse Robredo's dead body has been found Tuesday morning, August 21, 2012, as announced by Transport and Communications Secretary Mar Roxas at a presscon in Masbate.
According to Roxas, the dead body of DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo was found by the foreign divers who helped in the "search and rescue" operation.
Sec. Jesse Robredo and the pilot were found at 8:15AM today at the plane fuselage, 800 meters from the shore at a depth of about 150-feet of water, with Robredo's body as first to be brought to land at 8:30AM.
Robredo was 54 (May 27, 1958 - August 18, 2012).
Though he possibly died already on the day of the plane crash, August 18, Sec. Jesse Robredo's death has been confirmed on August 21, the day his dead body was found and happens to be the day Ninoy Aquino was assassinated 29 years ago while he was stepping off the plane.
My deepest condolences go out to the family of Sec. Jesse Robredo, who was our hardworking, noble and well-loved City Mayor while I was a student at Ateneo de Naga University.
Sec. Jesse Robredo's dead body was found almost 3 days since a Piper Seneca plane, with him and 3 others onboard, crashed off the island of Masbate.
One of them, Robredo's aide P/C Insp June Paolo Abrasado, was rescued and survived right after the crash while Robredo and the other two, plane's pilot/owner Jessup Bahinting and Nepalese student pilot Kshitiz Chand, went missing until Robredo's body was recovered just this morning.
According to Naga City Mayor John Bongat, who succeeded Robredo in 2010, the Secretary was rushing to Naga from Cebu, so he could personally witness the awarding of medal for his youngest daughter, Jillian Therese Robredo, who won at a swimming event at the Palarong Panglungsod 2012 or the 2012 Naga City Sports Selection Meet.
