'Just One Summer' vs 'The Reunion' Box-Office Battle begins August 15

"Just One Summer" and "The Reunion" will battle it out in the box-office starting Wednesday, August 15, 2012. [Poll: What movie are you going to watch? (Scroll down to cast your vote.)]
We used to have only one Filipino film opening on a particular date in recent years, but not on August 15 as these two Pinoy movies, "Just One Summer" and "The Reunion", open in cinemas on the same day.
This, I should say, is a real battle in the Philippine box-office, as exciting as the TV ratings war between GMA and ABS-CBN.
While "The Reunion" is directed by still untested Frasco Mortiz, "Just One Summer" is under the direction of Mac C. Alejandre, who already has a string of movie hits.
It reminds me of the box-office face off between GMA Films' "Let The Love Begin" and Star Cinema's "Dreamboy" which both opened on the same day in 2005. "Let The Love Begin", which starred Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin, and also directed by Mac Alejandre, won the box-office crown that time over 'Dreamboy' which paired Piolo Pascual and Bea Alonzo for the first and the last time.
