"The Mistress" is now the highest-grossing Filipino film this 2012, as it overtakes "UnOfficially Yours" in the Philippine Box Office for this year.
Both movies are produced by Star Cinema and both star John Lloyd Cruz (and also K Brosas lol.)
Based on the latest box-office figures available at Box Office Mojo, "The Mistress", which marks John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo's 7th movie team-up, now has a gross earnings of P186.73-million as of September 23, 2012. And it's only the movie's 12-day total, meaning, it has already surpassed the P200-million mark as of today, Sep. 29.
It's now almost P30M higher than "UnOfficially Yours", John Lloyd's first movie with Angel Locsin shown in February. It had a final gross of P157.25M.
In the all-time box-office chart (not including MMFF movies), "The Mistress" is now the 4th highest-grossing Filipino film and most likely to finish in 2nd or 3rd by the end of its run. I don't think though it will surpass the record set by "Praybeyt Benjamin" which had P331.61M.
"The Mistress" also becomes John Lloyd's 7th movie in the all-time Top 10. The other 6 are "You Changed My Life" (#3), "A Very Special Love" (#5), "UnOfficially Yours" (#6), "One More Chance" (#7), "My Amnesia Girl" (#8) and "Miss You Like Crazy" (#9), two (2) of which also starred Bea Alonzo, thus making "The Mistress" as her 3rd in the Top 10.
