On 10-11-12, Ateneo Blue Eagles scored a 5-peat victory in the UAAP Season 75 Men's Basketball Tournament: 5 consecutive championship titles from Season 71 to 75.
The Ateneo Blue Eagles won vs UST Growling Tigers in the UAAP Season 75 Finals Game 2, 65-62, to lead the series, 2-0, and take their 5th straight championship title.
It was a tight game, with both teams alternately leading since the 1st quarter, and Ateneo was consistlently on the lead only during the last 4 minutes of the game.
QUARTER SCORES: 13-14, 29-29, 46-47, 65-62
Ateneo's Kiefer Ravena was the top scorer with 22 points, while Jeric Fortuna led the scorer from UST with 20 points.
And again, for the 2nd straight year, Ateneo's Nico Salva was named as the Finals MVP (Most Valuable Player).
Nico probably has the best stint ever in UAAP, because Ateneo Blue Eagles were the "champion" in all his 5 years of playing for the team. He was MVP for his 4th year and again, MVP for his 5th and final year.
Ateneo was only the 2nd team in UAAP history to score a 5-peat championship title. The first was UE who even went on to score 7 straight wins from 1965 to 1971 (though in their 3rd win, they shared title with UST).
With a total of 8 championship titles, ADMU is now the sole 4th winningest team in UAAP (no longer tied with La Salle):
FEU - 19 wins
UE - 18
UST - 18
ADMU - 8
DLSU - 7
UP - 2
ADU - 1
NU - 1
