"This Guy's In Love With U Mare!", the movie which features the comedy trio of Lui Vi Ton (Luis Manzano, Vice Ganda and Toni Gonzaga) made a strong debut yesterday, October 10, 2012, with opening gross of P23-million in the box-office.
That's according to Star Cinema and the movie's lead stars themselves,
Vice Ganda and Luis Manzano, who happily shared the good news on Twitter today.
vicegandako: "A call from Star Cinema woke me up with the news that #ThisGuysInLoveWithUMare first day grossed 23M as of last night. Wow! Thank you Lord!"
luckymanzano: "23M for the first day of #ThisGuysInLoveWithUMare ! Wow!! Thank you guys! Panoorin niyo ulit magsama pa kayo! :)"
"This Guy's In Love With U Mare!" P23-million opening gross in the box-office is the
same as the opening gross of Star Cinema's "The Mistress" which opened a month ago now has a total gross earnings of P254.85-million after 4
weeks (as of October 7, 2012) according to Box Office Mojo.
It seems like what happened last year is happening again this 2012: a back-to-back mega blockbuster hit.
In September 2011, "No Other Woman" was shown and grossed P278.42M by the end of its run, then "The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin" followed
in October with a total gross of P331.63M. These 2 movies are
currently the Top 2 highest-grossing Filipino films of all time.
With "The Mistress" as currently the 3rd highest-grossing local film, "This Guy's In Love With U Mare!" is facing a tough challenge of at least matching the box-office record set by any of these 3 top-grossing films.
Meanwhile, Box Office Mojo has also revealed the latest box-office figure for "Of All The Things" which opened 2 weeks ago. After 10 days
in theaters, the Aga Muhlach-Regine Velasquez comeback movie only has P21.37M gross revenues.
This month of October is actually full of potential box-office hits.
After "This Guy's In Love With U Mare!" 's opening this week, "Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles" will open next week (Oct. 17), then "A Secret Affair" the following week (Oct. 24) and finally, "Suddenly It's Magic" on Oct. 31. - www.mykiru.ph
