The AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 semi-finals lineup now complete!
Singapore and Malaysia now join the Philippines and Thailand in the semi-finals of 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup after they won their respective games earlier in two separate venues in Malaysia.
3-time Suzuki Cup champion Singapore won against Laos, 4-3, while defending champion Malaysia defeated Indonesia, 2-0.
Over-all standing in Group B shows Singapore and Malaysia, each with 6 points earned from their 2 wins, thus making them the 2 teams who will join Thailand and Philippines from Group A in the semi-finals.
This only marks the 2nd time that Suzuki Cup powerhouse and last year's runner-up Indonesia has been shut off from the semis. Same goes with Vietnam who was eliminated yesterday in Group A.
It's now Singapore's 4th time in the semis and the 6th time for both Malaysia and Thailand, while it's only the 2nd time for the Philippine Azkals.
Thailand and Singapore are both 3-time champions in the AFF Suzuki Cup, while Malaysia will try to duplicate its first championship title in 2010. Philippines meanwhile is yet to win its first, and hopefully, it's gonna happen this year.
The AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 semi-finals (home-and-away) games begin with Philippines Vs. Singapore on December 8 to be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in the Philippines, followed by Malaysia Vs. Thailand the next day, Dec. 9, at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
Then it continues on Dec. 12, SIN vs PH, at Singapore's Jalan Besar Stadium and on Dec. 13, THA vs MAL, at the Supachalosai Stadium in Bangkok. - www.mykiru.ph
