'A Moment In Time', Coco Martin and Julia Montes' first ever movie teamup, made a good showing in the Philippine box-office during its first 5 days, February 13 to 17, 2013.
As Star Cinema's 2013 Valentine offering, 'A Moment In Time' scored
P34.86-million for its first 5 days, according to Box Office Mojo's latest tally.
Though it failed to defeat foreign action film "A Good Day To Die Hard" which was meant to top the box office with a very good P45.30M 5-day opening gross, 'A Moment In Time' was still the ultimate date movie choice last Valentine's Day and somehow prevented foreign romantic films "Warm Bodies" and "Safe Haven", to rule the Valentine box office in the Philippines.
1 A Good Day to Die Hard 45,301,894 PHP
2 A Moment In Time 34,857,270 PHP
3 Warm Bodies 5,238,556 PHP (3-week total: 29,693,413 PHP)
4 Safe Haven 5,144,939 PHP
5 Chinese Zodiac 5,099,123 PHP (3-week total: 89,578,178 PHP)
6 Flight 4,807,215 PHP
7 Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 4,270,186 PHP (4-week total:
108,462,143 PHP)
8 Mama 1,659,617 PHP (2-week total: 9,858,538 PHP)
9 The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 302,117 PHP (10-week total:
136,779,786 PHP)
10 Bullet to the Head 141,620 PHP (2-week total: 7,230,226 PHP)
'A Moment In Time' is already the 1st Pinoy film to become a hit in the box office this 2013, after the very disappointing "Seduction",
which only had P6.59M in its 2-week run.
Compared to the 5-day start of previous years' local Valentine offerings, the movie may not be in the same level as last year's John
Lloyd Cruz-Angel Locsin movie "UnOfficially Yours" (which had P71.53M), but it has earned higher than the 2011 Valentine movie "My Valentine Girls" (P17.52M) and 2009's "When I Met U" (P32.47M). No
local Valentine offering was shown in 2008, while there was no official opening week data for 2010's "My Bestfriend's Girlfriend".
'A Moment In Time' is also poised to become the highest-grossing movie ever for both Coco Martin and Julia Montes. Their previous films noticeably grossed lower during their opening week.
