American Idol 2013 Top 20 Semi-Finalists have been announced...just half of them actually.
American Idol Season 12 has begun selecting the Top 10 girls and the Top 10 boys to form its Top 20 Semi-Finalists.
During Wednesday's Las Vegas Round 1, 10 of the 20 girls from the American Idol 2013 Top 40 performed and 5 of them were called to advance to the Top 20 semi-finals while 5 have experienced the so-called "sudden death" and were eliminated from the competition.
ADVANCED TO THE TOP 20: Kree Harrison, Angela Miller, Amber Holcomb, Adriana Latonio and Tenna Torres.
ELIMINATED: Jenny Beth Willis, Brandy Hotard, Shubha Vedula, Kamaria Ousley, Isabelle
The 5-foot tall Adriana Latonio is from Alaska and one of the 3 Filipino-Americans on this season's Top 40. Her ticket to the Top 20 was an amazing performance of Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way", which gained overwhelming praises from all 4 judges.
Even Season 10's Pia Toscano loved it and posted a tweet praising Filipino girls: "Adriana better saaang.. Wow.. Big song, Big voice.. Filipino girls are the best singers on the planet.. Let's go!"
(You're right Pia! Adriana, Jessica Sanchez, Charice, Lea Salonga...and even Sarah Geronimo.)
Adriana's toughest competitor so far among the 5 girls who advanced to the Top 20 is Kree Harrison. She's being considered by many as the frontrunner to win American Idol Season 12. We'll, let's see. It's too early to tell.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas Round 2 has just wrapped up. The first group of 10 boys performed in this order for the 5 slots in the American Idol 2013 Top 20: Johnny Keyser, Josh "JDA" Davila (wearing heels and with make up on during his performance), Paul Jolley, Kevin Harris, Chris Watson, Devin Velez, Elijah Liu (I love his mix: Mexican-Chinese), Charlie Askew, Jimmy Smith and Curtis Finch Jr.
