'It Takes A Man And A Woman' took top spot of the Philippine Box Office last weekend, based on the report by BoxOfficeMojo.com.
'It Takes A Man and A Woman', which is already the 3rd part of the Miggy-Laida love story and features John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo, tallied a 2-day gross of P60.98-million as against the Hollywood film 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' which had P48.5M in 2 days.
'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' was a major box office sensation in most countries when it opened last weekend, but not that much in the Philippines when it had to settle for just 2nd place behind local film 'It Takes A Man And A Woman'.
The sequel to 2009's 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra' has already earned $135M globally as of Sunday, but only $1.19M of that came from Philippine Box Office receipts.
Both opened in theaters on Black Saturday, March 30, 2013, the two movies battled against each other, with G.I. Joe: Retalation having more theaters, a total of 224, which included 3D screenings.
And yet, the mega-action flick, which stars Bruce Willis, The Rock and Channing Tatum, only earned P48.5 million after 2 days, as against the P60.98 million 2-day gross of 'It Takes A Man And A Woman', which is a romance-comedy, had fewer theaters (160) and no 3D screenings.
If only the latter had more theaters than G.I. Joe 2, it could have earned so much more than the P61M.
By this time, for sure cinema owners have already allotted more cinemas for 'It Takes A Man and A Woman' than 'G.I. Joe: Retalation'.
As of 4th day, 'It Takes A Man and A Woman' reportedly has already passed the P100 million mark. - Mykiru.ph
