The royal baby boy is born, finally!
After more than 10 hours of labour, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton gave birth to her royal baby at 4:24 PM on Monday, July 22, at the Lindon Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London. (That's 11:24 PM Manila time and 11:24 AM New York time.) But the birth announcement was only made 5 hours later.

For now, let's just call him the Prince of Cambridge, who was born 8 lbs 6 oz according to the tweet by the Clarence House (@clarencehouse).

With 8 lbs 6 oz (3.8 kg), the baby is heavier than his dad, Prince William, when he was born 7 lbs 1.5 oz in 1982, also heavier than his grandfather who was born 7 lbs 6 oz in 1948.
In a press release, the newborn's grandfather Prince Charles expressed that he is overjoyed at the arrival of his first grandchild.
"Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.
Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone's life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future."
