The Voice of the Philippines' Battle Rounds have ended tonight, August 17. Who completed the Top 6 for each team?
Tonight's show started with no opening number. And so they went straight to the first pair: Cora dela Cruz of Cavite vs Jessica Corpuz of Tarlac.
These two artists from Team Apl performed together Sugarfree's 'Makita Kang Muli'. It was so obvious who performed better between the two.
Cora outshined Jessica.
"Walang katulad mo sa show na 'to," Coach Lea Salonga telling Cora.
And as expected, coach Apl.de.Ap picked Cora.
Next battle was Team Bamboo's Myk Perez vs John Duka over a medley of 'Hey Jude' and 'Come Together'. It's Myk for me.
Coaches Lea and Sarah Geronimo also loved Myk's performance more than John. But guest adviser Joey Ayala picked John, noting the masculinity of his
voice.
And Bamboo's decision? It's Myk. Great choice, Bamboo! Thought you're gonna surprise us again.
After the break, it's the Gonzaga sisters (Toni and Alex) in a special number. They sang 'Heart Attack'. Okay! Nothin' special in their performance.
It's Team Sarah's turn: Klarisse de Guzman vs Gabriel Ramos vs Rouxette Swinton. They did their own version of 'Somebody That I Used To Know'.
Both Bamboo and Apl chose Klarisse, while for guest adviser Gary V, it's Gab. (Is it because his son is also named Gab? Lols.)
Before revealing her choice, coach Sarah had to tell everyone again that Klarisse was her co-finalist in 'Star for a Night'. "Isa kang patunay na 'di porke't natalo ka, hindi ka na magaling, hindi na matutupad pangarap mo," Sarah said about her, and after a short pause, she picked Klarisse. No surprise there.
And saved the best for last: the vocal battle between Radha Tinsay and Marissa Saroca from Team Lea. Oh, they're both great singing Aretha Franklin's 'Respect'. Watch their breathtaking performance: (video credit to ABS-CBN)
V reporter Robi Domingo was heard sayin' 'The best battle ever'. I think I agree. And for the first time, all 4 coaches gave a standing ovation.
For me, I would love Marissa to get through. Radha is a pro, but Marissa was able to match that.
For Bamboo, it's Marissa, while Apl.De.Ap chose Marissa.
Lea's choice? Yeah, it's Radha. Kinda expected. "Karapat-dapat kang mabigyan ng pangalawang pagkakataon," Lea said while revealing her choice.
So, that's it! The Battles have been completed. And from 52 artists, they're down to 24 who will compete next in the Live Shows.
