The Philippines' Sinag Pilipinas swept up in the 27th SEA Games 2013 in Myanmar, winning all their basketball games.
The basketball team reigned as the "Kings" in Southeast Asia when they defeated all of their 6 opponents: Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia and lastly, Malaysia, getting for the Philippines the much-needed gold.
Sinag Pilipinas is composed of Bobby Ray Parks, Kevin Alas, Marcus Douthit, Jake Pascual, Roi Sumang, Garvo Lanete, Rey Mark Belo, Kevin Ferrer, Matt Ganuelas, Jericho Cruz, Ronald Pascual and Kiefer Ravena.
Team Philippines though still needs more golds to climb up in the medals ranking.
Based on the latest medals tally, Philippines has only 12 golds, 18 silvers and 24 bronzes, still ranking 7th over-all, and is one of the 5 bottom-ranked teams.
The gold medalists from the Philippines are as follows:
Jessie Aligaga (Wushu Men's, 48 kg)
Dembert Arcita (Wushu Men's, 52 kg)
Daniel Parantac (Wushu Men's, Taijiquan + Taijijian)
Ramon Antonino Franco (Karatedo Men's Individual Kumite, 55 kg)
Josie Gabuco (Boxing Women's, 45-48 kg)
Mark Anthony Barriga (Boxing Men's, 46-49 kg)
Mario Fernandez (Boxing Men's, 56 kg)
Sinag Pilipinas (Basketball Men's Team)
Mark John Lexer Galedo (Cycling Men's Road Race, 50km Individual Time Trial)
Henry Dagmil (Athletics Men's Long Jump)
Nestor Cordova (Rowing Men's M1x)
Archand Christian Bagsit (Athletics Men's 400m)
It could have been 14 golds for the Philippines if only we weren't kinda robbed in 2 boxing events. Two of our boxers suffered "hometown" decision losses: Nesthey Petecio lost to Myanmar's Nwe Ni Oo in Boxing Women's 57 kg and Wilfredo Lopez also lost to another Myanmar boxer. Many believe we could have won GOLD and not SILVER for those 2 bouts.
Sinag Pilipinas' counterpart, the Perlas Pilipinas, meanwhile finished in 2nd, taking SILVER. Gold was won by Thailand.
