'Maria Leonora Teresa' Box-Office: Is it the next movie to gross P100 million?

'Maria Leonora Teresa', the horror movie starring Jodi Sta. Maria, Zanjoe Marudo and Iza Calzado, is reportedly playing so well in theaters, at least according to its producer Star Cinema.
A blockbuster - that's how Star Cinema people exactly describe the box-office performance of 'Maria Leonora Teresa', which is the first horror film of Comedy Box Office director Wenn Deramas. It opened last Wednesday,
September 17, 2014 and was graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
However, they haven't released yet gross estimates for the movie, which is unusual 'coz for every blockbuster movie, Star Cinema normally gives updates on its gross earnings from opening day until it hits the hundred-million mark.
So for now, it's safe to say that as of Saturday, 'Maria Leonora Teresa' hasn't reached P100M gross yet.
Could it be true that the movie did have a fantastic opening, but slowed down the next 2 days due to Typhoon Mario that flooded Metro Manila and other parts of the country? We'll have the answer once box office figures for the movie are out.
For almost 2 months now, no Filipino film has crossed the P100M mark. The last to reach that was July's KathNiel teen flick 'She's Dating The Gangster', and the 5 movies that followed ('Trophy Wife', 'Once A Princess', 'Talk Back And You're Dead', 'Somebody To Love' and 'The Gifted') all failed to be the next 100-million earning movie.
We shall find out if 'Maria Leonora Teresa' could either be the 7th Pinoy movie this 2014 to gross P100M and above or the 6th film in a row after 'She's Dating The Gangster' to gross below P100M.
Whatever it is, 2014 has been shaping up already as the best year for the Philippine movie industry. For the first 7 months of the year, 6 movies have already grossed above P100M, 3 of which even earned over P200M, 2 went on to take more than P300M gross receipts and 1 became the 3rd Pinoy film ever to join the P400M club.
And as of September 13, total gross for all PH movies this 2014 already reached P1.6 BILLION. With 3 months left, and the Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 is yet to happen, total collection will surely exceed P2-billion and have no problem breaking 2013 record of P2.27-billion.
