All Saints Day, November 1, is a holiday, but not the day before, October 31, which is sadly just like any other ordinary day in the Philippines.
For the 3rd straight year, October 31, which falls on a Friday this year, is not a holiday in the country. As stressed by the Malacañan Palace earlier this week, the date will be a regular working day. (Latest Update, Oct. 30, 5PM: It has just been declared that it will be a half-day work for government agencies tomorrow, but still not a holiday)
It could have been a long weekend for the Filipinos, and they would have more time to prepare for 'Undas' if it was made a special non-working holiday. November 1 (Saturday) is All
Saints' Day, while the day after (Sunday), Nov. 2, is All Souls' Day.
If you're working on Nov. 1, which is a special non-working holiday, you better take note of the holiday pay rules (see image below, taken from Official Gazette of the Philippines FB Page) so you won't be fooled by your employer.
