AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 Azkals vs Vietnam in Group A has just ended. Final Scores: 1-3.
Earlier tonight, November 28, 2014, at the My Dinh National Stadium in
Vietnam, the Philippine Azkals played against the host team without key players Juani Guirado and Patrick Reichelt, who were both injured in their previous game (vs Indonesia). As a result, the Azkals lost to Vietnam and finished the group stage in 2nd Place.
Paul Mulders scored the sole goal for the Philippines at the 60th minute, but before him, 3 Vietnamese players have already scored: Ngo Hoang Thinh (9th min.), Vu Minh Tuan (51st min.) and Pham Thanh Luong (59th).
As the top seed and 2nd seed in Group A, Vietnam (2 wins, 1 draw 0 loss) and the Philippines (2 wins, 1 loss) have both secured a slot in the semi-finals or the Final 4. Azkals' semi-final game will be on December 7 against the top seed from Group B, whose teams are Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar. (As of today, Thailand already advanced to the semis.)
Eliminated teams from Group A are Indonesia (1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss) and Laos (winless).
It was the first in the last 3 editions of the AFF Suzuki Cup that the Azkals lost to Vietnam. Remember their historic win against Vietnam in 2010? The Philippine team also won over Viets in the 2012 edition. - Mykiru.ph
