Jennifer Laude, Michelle Ann Bonzo, Tado Jimenez and other personalities who died in 2014 figured prominently in Google Philippines' Top Trending Searches or Topics for the year 2014.
Laude was the transgender woman who was allegedly murdered by US Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton in Olongapo last October, while Michelle Ann 'Mitch' Bonzo meanwhile was one of the students who drowned during a field trip in Bulacan last August. Her love story with Hiro Mallari was even featured the next month on MMK, and they were portrayed by Janella Salvador and Manolo Pedrosa.
While these sudden deaths generated much buzz this year, the biggest story in the Philippines this 2014, at least according to what people have Googled the most, was actually that controversy involving Vhong Navarro, Deniece Cornejo and Cedric Lee during the first 2 months of the year.
Vhong is actually the over-all top trending search of 2014, the most-searched male celebrity, the 2nd over-all trending mobile search and the most-searched local personality on mobile.
Cedric on one hand is 6th over-all top trending search, 3rd most-searched local personality on mobile and the #1 newsmaker of the year. Not to be left out, Deniece is 4th most-searched local personality and 3rd newsmaker of the year. Even Roxanne Cabanero, the woman who accused Vhong of rape, is also there, ranked 10th in the Newsmaker category.
Another expected name in this year-end list is Paolo Bediones, who ranked 9th over-all, 3rd among male celebs, 7th over-all mobile search and 2nd newsmaker of the Year.
Great thing we have the likes of Darren Espanto, Michael Christian Martinez, James Reid and Nadine Lustre who made it to the list for good reasons.
In the Music and Movies categories: Sam Concepcion 's single 'Dati' is the only OPM song in Google Philippines' Top 10 Trending Music for 2014 while 'Starting Over Again', the movie that starred Toni Gonzaga and Piolo Pascual, is the only Tagalog movie in the Top 10 Trending Movies.
