Sarah Geronimo and Darren Espanto performed together 'Bang Bang', the hit Jessie J. single feat. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. And everyone's raving about it!
Sarah Geronimo performed the song with 'The Voice Kids' runner-up Darren Espanto during an event more than a week ago. It was for Globe's Legion of Heroes: The Enterprise Group Appreciation Night 2014 held at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel, with Bamboo, Angeline Quinto and Jay-R as performers beside Sarah and Darren.
Just last Friday, Viva uploaded the video of Sarah Geronimo singing 'Bang Bang' with Darren Espanto, and 3 days later, it already has over 300,000 views. By the end of this week, it's expected to hit the million mark. (Watch and be counted!)
Indeed, it was such an amazing performance by Sarah and Darren, and I'm not getting tired watching the video again and again. Hope they will also perform that soon on ASAP 19.
And because of that performance, the old issue about Darren Espanto as the more deserving 'The Voice Kids' winner than Lyca Gairanod has come alive once again, especially after Lea Salonga, Sarah's fellow 'The Voice Philippines' coach, also said just recently that Darren should have won The Voice Kids.
Lea made such statement when she tweeted a link to the Youtube video of Sarah and Darren's 'Bang Bang' performance.
MsLeaSalonga: "An awesome Bang Bang by @JustSarahG and #DarrenEspanto. Dare I say it, He should've won The Voice Kids. Haaaaay. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P36-K6It4Eg"
Back in July, Darren finished only as runner-up to Lyca Gairanod in 'The Voice Kids', but many believed then that Darren should have won, and that Lyca only won because of her background, coming from a family of junk scavengers.
Fast forward to December, with the Year 2015 fast approaching, the issue surfaces once more. Blame it partly to Ms. Lea's tweet. (Though I also feel the same. DARREN SHOULD HAVE WON!)
Probably after realizing that she might have displeased Lyca's fans, Lea tweeted last night the reasons why the little girl from Cavite won over Darren, while the Tony Award-winning performer was responding to a question about Lyca's victory from Twitter user named Ben Joseph Diaz (@_bjd08).
MsLeaSalonga: "@_bjd08 as good a singer as she is, her compelling back story and people's hope in her as well as her star quality won her the title."
