One of the favorites for the crown, Miss Philippines Valerie Weigmann is hoping to bring home a back-to-back Miss World title for the country. Will she succeed fellow Filipina Megan Young?
Days before the finale, Miss World 2014 finalists for the Challenge Events were announced. Miss Philippines is among the Top 10 finalists for the Beauty with a Purpose award and as of last night, she's also one of the Top 10 in the People's Choice voting, winner of which will automatically earn a slot in the semi-finals.
Valerie's "Musikaramay" project about the indigenous people in the Philippines made her a finalist for "Beauty with a Purpose" award along with Misses Brazil, Julia Gama; Bolivia, Andrea Forfori Aguilera; England, Carina Tyrrell; Guyana, Rafieya Husain; India,
Koyal Rana; Indonesia, Maria Asteria Sastrayu; Kenya, Idah Nguma; Netherlands, Tatjana Maul; and South Africa, Rolene Strauss.
In the People's Choice voting, which is being done via the Miss World app and will be closed during the finale, the 10 candidates who currently have the highest votes are, as of Saturday night, December 13: (in alphabetical order)

*Leaderboard containing points from 5 out of their 6 challenges has been revealed. Sadly, Philippines isn't part of the Top 20 yet.
*Announcement of the Beauty with a Purpose winner. Philippines is one of the Top 10 finalists. 5 winners were announced, and sadly, Philippines isn't one of them.
*The Top 25 quarter-finalists have been announced, and one of them is Miss Philippines Valerie Weigmann! It was one big thing that she made it to the Top 10 of Beauty with a Purpose, the most important challenge event in Miss World.
