The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 has started its Knockout Rounds tonight, January 10, 2015. Let's find out who stood out and advanced to Live Shows.
In the Knockout rounds, the Top 9 artists from each of the team are divided into groups of 3. The 3 from each group compete against each other, 2 of them are picked by their coach to advance to the live shows. Six (6) from each team remain after the Knockout rounds.
First team to go through the knockouts was Team Apl and the first group consisted of Ferns Tosco and stolen artists Suy Galvez and
Patricia Gomez. According to Coach Apl, he grouped them because of their unique and one of a kind voices.
Ferns performed first, 'Let It Be' (it was just okay), followed by Suy with 'At Last' (all other coaches loved it the most) and finally Patricia in a seemingly nervous performance of 'Oo' by Up Dharma Down. Coach Apl picked FERNS and SUY to advance, and eliminated the beautiful Patricia.
Up next was the group of Mark Cando, Daryll Ong and rocker dad Bradley Holmes. I love all these 3, and it seemed like Apl didn't want to keep all of the only 3 men in his team when he grouped them. It was wrong decision I think.
The good-looking Mark was first, singing 'The Impossible Dream'. He's cute, and so his rendition but had no impact. Or maybe because I'm so used to hearing Jed Madela's incredible and stunning version of this that's why I didn't like it much?
Daryll came next and it was damn so good. He owned the Whitney Houston hit 'Greatest Love of All'. It was a refreshing version. Bradley's turn after the break, and he was awesome again with his take on 'Kamusta, Mga Kaibigan'.
Coach Lea loved Bradley's performance most, while Coach Bamboo and Sarah's choice was Daryll. And they're also Coach Apl's choices: BRADLEY and DARYLL. Mark was eliminated.
Then finally, the battle of the "shouters" in Team Apl: Janet Cadayona ('Pusong Bato'), Mackie Cao ('Salamat') and Alisah Bonaobra ('Follow Your Dream').
The lady police Janet chose the song because it was what her child wanted her to sing. Bad idea that she didn't sing a song of her own choice. Jovit Baldivino's version is much better. Same with Mackie who just made Yeng Constantino's original version as the more pleasing to hear for me. As for Alisah, she will definitely advance ('coz of her background as a street vendor), whether she gives an outstanding or just average performance.
Sarah picked Alisah because she believes the girl has great potential in the competition. Bamboo and Lea favored Mackie. Apl's decision: ALISAH and MACKIE are going to the live shows. Janet was eliminated.
BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT for me was that of Daryll Ong. Love playing it again and again. Watch!
I pick Bradley's 'Kamusta, Mga Kaibigan' as the 2nd Best:
Tomorrow, January 11, it's Team Lea's knockout performances. Her artists include: Timothy Pavino, Leah Patricio, Nino Alejandro, Miro Valera, Charlie Catbagan, Casper
Blancaflor, Jem Cubil, Mic Llave and Abbey Pineda.
Artists from Team Sarah and Kamp Kawayan are competing next weekends, January 17 and 18. Jason James Dy, Monique Lualhati, Kokoi Baldo, Poppert Bernadas, Jason Fernandez, Shaira Jim Cervancia, Demie Fresco, Douglas Dagal and Carol Leus make up Team Sarah, while Rence Rapanot, Tanya Diaz, Kai Honasan, Joniver Robles, Arnee Hidalgo, Karlo Mojica, Rita Martinez, Lougee Basabas and Elmerjun Hilario are Bamboo's artists. - Mykiru.ph
