Typhoon Maysak hasn't entered yet the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) actually, and once it's here, it will be officially called as Typhoon Chedeng.

And even before it makes PAR entry Wednesday morning, April 1, 2015, Maysak has been categorized already as a super typhoon by US Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) Tuesday afternoon, March 31, 2015.

Meanwhile, the Philippines' weather bureau PAGASA has just made an update late Tuesday evening that the typhoon now located at 1,530 km East of Surigao City (10.2°N, 139.4°E), with maximum sustained winds of 205kph near the center and gustiness of up to 240kph.

It is forecast to move West Northwest at 20kph, PAGASA further said in its weather bulletin.

So, in that PAGASA update, MAYSAK has a maximum sustained of winds of 205kp and is still a typhoon. Under PAGASA's new classification, it's a super typhoon if it has a sustained winds of more than 220 kph.

To my dear readers, you better consider Chedeng, whether it's a typhoon or a super typhoon, as you make your Holy Week plans. Though Japan Meteorological Agency's forecast of Maysak shows that it might weaken as it gets closer to us, let's all pray that the unholy typhoon is not gonna ruin our Holy Week. Just be prepared and be ready for anything. - Mykiru.ph
