PGT Season 5 has named Power Duo as its grand winner!
Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) finally has a non-singing act as grand winner when Power Duo from Angono, Rizal won earlier against 11 other grand finalists.
Power Duo, Robin Padilla's golden buzzer recipient during the auditions, took home P2-million grand prize.
In 2nd Place was Amazing Pyra while the 3rd Placer was magician Ody Sto. Domingo.
Perhaps to make sure that no singer will emerge as grand winner, the PGT judges had a "say" on the results, comprising 50% of the finalists' total scores.
The highest-ranking singing act was only in 5th Place (Kurt Phillip Espiritu) and worse, the Bottom 2 were both singing groups.
Even if there were no judges votes, Power Duo would still emerge as the grand winner 'coz they also ruled in the text and online voting. That explains why they got a perfect 100% combined scores from judges and the voting public.
I have a feeling that it was teen heartthrob Kurt Espiritu who ranked next to Power Duo in the public votes, but he finished 5th over-all when judges' votes have been added. I think the judges scored him low, as well as The Chosen Ones and Next Option, to avoid a singing act to win again on PGT.
Power Duo anyway was a deserving winner. I just hope that they still revealed the results from public votes and how the judges scored each of them. We deserve to know.
