WATCH: James Reid swarmed by fans at MIBF event resulting in stampede

James Reid's book signing for "Team Real" and "Pedro Penduko" books yesterday at the SMX Convention Center caused a stampede among fans who rushed to the venue, prompting the organizers to cancel the event.
Perhaps National Book Store, who organized the said book signing as part of the ongoing 38th Manila International Book Fair (MIBF 2017),
underestimated James Reid's massive popularity and didn't anticipate a huge turnout of fans, who wanted to get near the singer-actor and take pictures of him.
Both James and National Book Store have issued an apology for the cancellation of the book signing.
I saw a lot of videos from the event showing quite a horrible situation at the venue, and it could have gone worse had it been James stayed longer there. Below is a compilation video of what happened (starting from his arrival) and I'm sure you wouldn't wish to be part of the crowd. As shown in the last part of the video, James Reid, who came with his Australian dad, even had to stop to check on someone while he was on his way out of the venue.
According to a fan (@chelleee16), who owns that last part of the compilation video, someone fell during that dangerous situation and James helped her to stand up.
Another fan, Anna Isabelle Minguez (@sabbeelle), can attest that it was a disorganized event, that there was indeed a stampede, that many got hurt and injured.
Instagram user Marjorie Ilano (@babybabe015) also shared her own video from the event, showing James trying to calm down the fans but to no avail.
I think if only there was safe passage for James, there was proper crowd control and enough security, he won't get mobbed, the book signing would push through, went smoothly and the fan stampede would have been avoided. - Mykiru.ph
